From the designer, my daughter, Haley: Growing up in Vermont, my favorite sign of spring was snowdrop flowers popping out from under the snow. I always found the dichotomy between their delicate looks and their hearty resistance to the bitter cold of the Northeastern winters particularly striking. This quilt is inspired by these blooms, blossoming in the dark and cold, against all odds.

Quilters love log cabin blocks. A Log Cabin block consists of a center square with a series of "logs" sewn around all four sides of the square. Sounds easy, but anyone who has tried to make them knows they are a challenge to get sized perfectly. Our technique has you strip piece each round of oversized logs, then trim after each round and once again at the end. The final trim assures your finished block is the correct size. A beloved technique made even better. What’s not to love!

New & Improved 2019 edition!
The Tucker Trimmer tool was designed to help quilter’s quickly and easily trim down units that are made with triangles: half square triangle squares, quarter square triangle squares (hourglass units), and combinations of half square and quarter square triangle squares (combination units). It has multiple diagonals which allow you to align ruler guide lines with unit seam lines to quickly locate the exact center of pieced units. This makes trim down easy, precise, and perfect every time. No more figuring, or guessing, or struggling to find a center point, and you can see it demonstrated on our free online video demo. I use it for much more than just trimming however and consider it my “must have” tool every time I head to my cutting table.

New & Improved 2019 edition!
An “in between” version of the original Tucker Trimmer I tool, this handy ruler allows you to do all of the same functions as the first except that the sizes of the units are in ¼” or ¾” increments. Although these particular sizes are not nearly as popular as the ½” and whole inch increments available on the Tucker Trimmer I, they are sometimes part of your quilting projects. And if you’ve ever tried to trim down a 2¾” hourglass unit you will highly appreciate this tool. The diagonal guidelines on the Tucker Trimmer II will cross precisely at the center of a 2¾” unit so finding the center is a breeze. A great supplemental tool to have in your ruler collection.
