New & Improved 2019 edition!
The third in the Tucker Trimmer series of rulers, this version of our Tucker Trimmer is used for any block or unit that is larger than a 6” finished block size. It has all of the sizes of the Tucker Trimmer I plus thirteen additional size options up to and including trimming blocks to 13” (that will finish to 12 ½” when sewn). I love to use this tool to trim down my Lemoyne Star blocks made with my Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star tool and any type of block that needs to be trimmed and squared to a specific size. A terrific tool with all the same benefits as the original Tucker Trimmer.

Add a real twist to your Wedge Star projects by cutting diamonds from pieced fabric strips. Your stars will spin either clockwise or counter clockwise and can be varied in oodles of ways. This is a fun next step in creating Wedge Star quilts. The strip sizes in the chart come very close to dividing the diamonds in two equal size strips for a simple Twisted Star.

A project that constructs the pieced border units at the same time as the pieced block units: definitely a two for one deal! Deb’s construction methods and Tucker Trimmer 1 and Tucker Trimmer 3 tools let you construct all units without cutting or piecing triangle shapes and then gives you the added benefit of trimming down for super high precision. The large setting pieces can easily be trimmed with the Tucker Trimmer III tool. A very simple project to make.

This tool is a must have if you like making quilts with these tall star point units. Sometimes known as “Peaky and Spike”, a nickname attached to the unit about 20 years ago by a famous quilter, Doreen Speckman, this particular shape has perplexed quilters forever. With Deb’s tool, which you can see used on our free online video demonstration (see below, also on YouTube), you’ll be cutting the center and side triangles slightly over sized and then with the same tool trimming the sewn piece to an extremely precise unit with seams perfectly placed for crisp, sharp points at every intersection. So think about adding this magnificent new tool to your toolbox, you’ll be glad you did.

Victorious is a beautiful, traditional quilt that uses the V Block units to create stars with the added interest of the diagonal chains of small squares tying the stars together. The V Block units are also used to construct the diamond pieced border, providing a very different look from the stars in the center. Square Squared units are used to create the four corner blocks in the border. A difficult looking but easy to piece project.

When you look up the definition of the word whirling you’ll understand how this quilt received its name. The blocks certainly give the appearance of spinning rapidly around a central point. They are made with strip piecing and my favorite ‘power tool’, the Tucker Trimmer 3. It truly is easy enough for beginners, but interesting enough to engage the most veteran stitchers. So don’t hesitate. You will absolutely love the results.

Whirling Lemoynes creates a spinning effect that was inspired by those fun whirling flower lawn ornamants. It's a whimsical quilt that teaches you how to piece Lemoynes and 4-pointed stars without paper piecing. You can go scrappy, or use fat eighths, eighth yard cuts, or a Jelly Roll for your Lemoyne Star points.
