The unique asymmetrical design of Aurora will remind you of the Northern Lights and their undulating colors that dance across the sky. Two simple units create the Aurora design, and when you cut the centers for the Corner Beam units, the cutaways are used to create the side triangles of the V Block units. There are some cutaways left over, so a fun and easy bonus pattern called Twilight is also included in the pattern. It’s a great way to use up those extra pieces and have a fun bonus project to show for it!

This technique was developed by our very talented friend Pam Goggans from Sager Creek Quilts. You might remember Pam as one of the featured pattern designers in our Designer’s Gallery. This is the first product we’ve introduced under the Studio 180 Design name that anyone outside of the company developed, so you know how special we think this is!

We love using this simple unit to add additional interest to Star 60 designs. This is a great, easy to construct, basic unit that we are using more and more as we continue to work with the Star 60® tool. The unit you make with this technique sheet is sized the same way as the Star 60 unit, so if you want your Capped 60 unit to match up with a 5” Star 60 unit, you’d make a 5” Capped 60 unit.

Create the look of curves with just straight line piecing. Careful fabric placement will enhance the illusion of interlocking rings and curves. This tool creates a fundamental unit that is sure to add sparkle to your quilt block designs. Although the ruler shape is similar to the V Block, the final unit has two seamlines radiating from a single corner, so the center triangle in the finished unit resembles a beam of light shining out of that corner. Accurate construction has always been challenging until now. With the Corner Beam tool, all the shapes are cut slightly over sized and once sewn, trimmed to extremely precise units with seams perfectly placed for a crisp sharp point every time. Brighten up your blocks by adding Corner Beam to your toolbox today!

Finally, a tool and technique that will give you high success adding fabric corners to basic shapes. For years we’ve been layering small squares on big squares, marking & stitching on a diagonal line, then hoping everything lines up when we fold the small corner section back into place. If you’ve tried it, you know the pitfalls: too big, too short, too crooked and way too wasteful. No more. With your new Corner Pop tool, you will be able to trim rather than mark, add an oversized replacement triangle and then square everything to a perfect size. In twenty two different sizes - whole, half and quarter inches. Increased success without undue stress for every level of quilter. What’s not to love!

I'm proud to announce a brilliant tool collaboration between Studio 180 Design and the Running with Scissors Quilters, The Corner Pop II! Built upon the same idea as the original Corner Pop tool, this tool will allow you to add popped corners with a 2:1 ratio. What that means is that CP2 will make pops that are twice as tall as they are wide which will give you some great, spiky looks.

Country Fair is a scrap version of a traditional Carpenter’s Wheel block. This project is constructed with Flying Geese units, Diamond Square units and Four Patch units instead of the usual diamond shapes. Using Deb’s Wing Clipper I and Square Squared tools will give you perfectly shaped and sized units every time. This means you’ll have crisp seams and great points and a border that actually fits the center part of the quilt! A super scrap project that looks so much harder to make than it actually is to construct.

Ready for a unique variation of Flying Geese? The stars in our Crossfire pattern are comprised of a new unit we call "Birds of Paradise". Using your favorite fabrics and your Tucker Trimmer® III, you can create this dynamic quilt. We recommend that as you pick your fabrics, you pair each dark fabric with a medium fabric in the same color. With 5 different layout options available you have lots of great options with just this one pattern.

Add a little twist to your log cabin blocks with the Curved Log Cabin technique sheet! The block is made up of one center square with a series of narrow and wide logs sewn around the center square. Sounds easy, but if you have ever tried to make them, you know that it is tough to get them to come out the way you want them - nice and square. Our technique has you strip piece each round of oversized logs, then trim with the Tucker Trimmer III, which allows you to straighten up those edges before you sew the next round. You will make every block quickly, easily, and accurately.

An unbelievable quilt that is certain to be a showstopper. The Wedge Star™ tool is used to create three simple block types that, when combined, give the illusion of curves connecting stars and star points. The intricate design looks difficult, but is easy for all since, like all Studio 180 Design techniques, oversizing and trimming are part of the construction process. Do not hesitate to give this pattern a try. You’ll amaze yourself and others with the results.

Deep in the Heart is the companion pattern for Marie Bostwick's novel, Between Heaven and Texas. It is the fourth collaborative work between Marie and Deb.
Just like Marie's character Mary Dell, this quilt is bigger than life! The Lone Star center (or the center plus the frame) could be a pretty quilt in its own right, but when you add those floating Lemoyne Stars around the edges, Deep in the Heart becomes a fantastic bed size quilt.
Not only that, but all the diamonds and stars are actually strip pieced so, other than the background pieces for the Lone Star, there are no Y seams required! Now that’s a “Yeehaw!” if I ever heard one!

Another great technique to use with your Wedge Star tool. Is it diamonds or pearls that are a girl’s best friend? Well, why not both! Diamonds in the Sky is a brilliant high contrast quilt. The Corner Beam blocks used throughout the design give you an alternating diamond illusion that simply radiates beauty. Double Dutch includes two versions of an adorable little wall hanging or table topper that looks far more complicated to construct than it is. The centers of the Diamond Square units have been “fussy cut” using the window template on Deb’s Square Squared tool then the units stitched oversized and trimmed to perfection. All of the Flying Geese units are made quickly and easily with her Deb’s Wing Clipper 2 tool, again pieced oversized and trimmed for precision. Make yours in the same or similar fabrics or consider using a special photo or embroidered motif in place of the flowers.
