Shhh! Don’t tell the other fabrics, but I may love working with batiks more than any other variety of fabric.
Due to their tight weave, Batiks have a crisp hand and I find there tends to be less movement during sewing and pressing, and these traits make them a true joy to work with when piecing. And of course quality matters, so with a seemingly endless selection of designs and colors, Island Batik has become my go to batik fabric manufacturer. Over the last three years we have made many quilts with their batiks; Lucky Lemoynes, Northern Neighbours, Filigree, Morning Glory, Crossfire, Sweet Pea, Stormy Stars, Oak Ridge Stars and one of our newest patterns Fiesta.
Nah, we haven't had any fun with Island Batik fabrics at all!
Well, I am very excited to announce that at Fall Quilt Market in November, we will be launching my very own signature collection, Twilight Chic! This is the secret I've been eluding to for months, and I'm just thrilled to finally be able to share it with you all!
When Island Batik approached me about having my very own signature collection, I couldn’t pass up the beautiful colors and designs of Kathy Engle. They immediately brought to mind our gorgeous North Carolina sunsets and that peaceful time during twilight. Kathy did a spectacular job with this collection, and it’s a great honor to have my name on this fabric collaboration along with hers.
I'm just so excited to finally share this gorgeous collection of fabric with you all!
Twilight Chic is a collection of rich, vibrant colors and elegant prints. The range of colors in the line of fabric gives the collection incredible depth, and because there are light, medium, and dark value fabrics, working within the collection is easy. The purples are intense, the deep navies are saturated, and the golds are rich and buttery. Every color in this line is just luscious.
Regardless of whether your quilts are more traditional or modern, with fun and versatile prints named swirl, leaf, vine, mum, berry vine, paisley, twigs, and flower field I’m confident the results will be stunning! And as we show you the quilts that we have designed for with this collection in the coming weeks, you will see they run the gambit; from very traditional to very modern. The range of quilt designs truly shows the versatility of this line, which isn’t something that you find with every line of fabric out there. And make sure you ask your local quilt shop if they plan on ordering the line from Island Batik! It'll be one of their collections that ships out around February 2019.
