We are celebrating 10 seasons of our popular BlockBuster series! 2025 was a milestone year, which included the design for our 100th block. This year we gave you some challenges with multi-tool blocks and stepped outside the bounds of conventional designs. Each block was created with the idea of helping you become more proficient with our tools and techniques.
For those of you who aren't familiar with our BlockBuster series, they are downloadable documents with instructions for creating blocks that can be made in a range of sizes using your Studio 180 Design tools. The blocks are shown with multiple fabric styles, so you can see that the same block works in many different fabrics. We also change up the placement of colors and values in the block to demonstrate how that alters the look of the block design. With the different blocks you can make a sampler quilt or just add them to your block library. They are here for you to enjoy!
Let's take a look at Season 10!
This sweet heart block is simple to make using the Corner Beam® tool. Color placement makes it look like a muti-faceted jewel that sparkles. You'll get plenty of practice using the Sliver technique sheet!

Quicksilver is for the tool enthusiast, using four tools and a technique sheet. Clever color placement gives the illusion of curves all with oversizing and trimming down. Match points will be snap after making this block.

Century Star marks our 100th BlockBuster! This special block combines our love of basic fundamental units with unusual angles and an eight pointed star. You could easily substitute any of the Wedge Star® technique sheets for the basic star in the center.

In celebration of our 100th block, we also released a brand new quilt setting! Centennial Showcase allows you to place nine of your favorite BlockBusters into this beautiful quilt. There are three different sizes to choose from.

Flowering reminds us of spring blossoms. This is a complex block made easier using the tools. Fabric placement gives the exploding effect to the block, making it look like a flower blooming.

Have some fun with this chain style block! X Marks the Spot would be perfect combined with other blocks or all on its own in a quilt. With just two tools and one technique sheet, you have a simple block full of possibilities.

Want to master your Wing Clipper® tool? Dual flare is the ideal block! How you place the Time Out units changes the entire look of the block. If you're looking for a fast project, Dual Flare is perfect.

The use of Blazing Lemoyne quadrants in Flaring Glimmer make it stand out. A stunning block is made all the more vibrant by using contrasting fabrics. You can easily substitute other Lemoyne Star techniques to give the block a completely different look.

Twisted Barbs uses just the Tucker Trimmer®! This block is all about color placement. Triangle Pizazz is used in the corners, a great time to try using our First Choice™ ruler for this unit. Color placement is key, so have fun experimenting!

Ready for a Halloween treat? Witch's Hat is the perfect block! Even though it uses three tools, construction is simple. And it pairs well with our other fall theme BlockBusters, #74 Leaves and #95 Jack.

Ray of Sunshine is for the quilter who loves complex looking blocks, easily made with just two tools. The 20" size would make a perfect wall hanging.

The final block of 2025 uses one of our recently released techniques, Blooming Lemoynes. This lovely block can be adapted for any season depending on the colors you choose. Change up the look by substituting one of the other Lemoyne Star techniques.
