We're back with our debut of Freedom Rings, our latest fabric collection designed by Deb for Island Batik by Lumin Fabrics. We're thrilled to have another guest blogger today, Certified Instructor Chris Combs of The Quilter's Nook! Chris has chosen to remake our popular Galaxy pattern in these beautiful red, white, and blue fabrics. Here is Chris to tell us all about her quilt.

I was honored to be asked to create a project using Freedom Rings, Studio 180 Design’s new fabric collection. With all it’s stars, fireworks, and red and blue colors, I thought what better pattern to use than Galaxy!

The original Galaxy quilt designed by Deb in 2012

Galaxy shows off all the great fabrics and helps to celebrate 250 years of America! I chose red and blue for the v-block units and the light blue with stars for the background.

The way the V Blocks and half square triangles seem to form a circle is a fun element in this quilt. Although not used with this pattern, the Four Patch Square Up® tool would be a great addition to help make the four patch blocks perfectly square.

If you are looking for a fast and fun quilt to make, Galaxy and the Freedom Rings fabric line could be for you!

Thank you Chris for sharing your version of Galaxy with us! Deb designed this quilt before we released the Four Patch Square Up® tool, and Chris's tip to use it to make the four patches in this quilt is a fantastic idea!

We will continue on this week sharing more projects in Freedom Rings. Tomorrow you'll want to head over to Quilting Affection Designs to see Certified Instructor Tina Dillard's newest pattern designed just for these fabrics. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to see more pictures of the quilts in this collection. Freedom Rings is arriving in shops now!
