What a great season 2024 was for our BlockBuster series! Can you believe that this is Season 9 of our popular free block library? From simple blocks that use some basic units, to intricate blocks that use star tools and new technique sheets, there is something for everyone in Season 9. We’ve gathered all of the blocks in one post to make them easier to find.
For those of you who aren't familiar with our BlockBuster series, they are downloadable documents with instructions for creating blocks that can be made in a range of sizes using your Studio 180 Design tools. The blocks are shown with multiple fabric styles, so you can see that the same block works in many different fabrics. We also change up the placement of colors and values in the block to demonstrate how that alters the look of the block design. With the different blocks you can make a sampler quilt or just add them to your block library. They are here for you to enjoy!

If you’ve never tried Triangle Pizazz units, What’s in a Name is the perfect block to experiment with. Combine the units with a Corner Pop® to give this traditional block some sparkle.

With just V Block®, Square Squared®, and the Little Houses technique sheet, you can make a complex looking block with ease. Hellebore is inspired by beautiful spring blooms, with crisp points to give it a unique look.

Starry chain was created from a desire to use two of our most fundamental tools; Wing Clipper® and Four Patch Square Up®. A unique take on a traditional block, Starry Chain would be stunning as an entire quilt.

We often see Diamond Rects® units used in traditional storm at sea settings. Coat of Arms uses this unit in a brand new way! Use your Tucker Trimmer® and Corner Beam® tools to complete this stunning block.

Chickadee uses two fundamental units to make a sweet chain block. Four Patch Square Up® and Split Rects® give these chains a dynamic look. This block would be perfect for scraps.

One of our new technique sheets for 2024 is Flock of Birds. This is a unit that quilters have asked us about for a long time. Get some practice using this technique with Star Flight. Combine the unit with combination units and experiment with color placement for a truly one of a kind block.

Our BlockBusters don’t often feature Wedge Star® blocks, but Ferris Wheel is the gorgeous exception. We combined this block with the Flock of Birds technique sheet with stunning results. Try playing with some of the technique sheets for Wedge Star® and see how you can make Ferris Wheel your own.

Ringing Royalty was designed to feature your Tucker Trimmer®, using hourglass units and Shaded Four Patch units to make a crown style block. This block was released before we came out with one of our latest technique sheets, Time Out. This new technique uses the Four Patch Square Up® tool to make a three patch unit. Try using it for the corner units!

The Corner Pop® tool can make any unit more unique! With the block Jack, we combined it with Split Rects® units to make this fun representational block. Combine the units with some half square triangles using your Tucker Trimmer® and you have a fun seasonal block that’s perfect for diving into your scrap bins.

Fireflies is the first block to officially use one of our new technique sheets released in 2024, Time Out. We combined these three patch units with Rapid Fire® Lemoyne Star quarters for this vibrant block. Sweet and simple, Fireflies is the perfect block to practice using your Four Patch Square Up® tool.

We end Season 9 with more practice using one of our 2024 technique sheet releases. Flying South uses half square triangles and Flock of Birds units for a very traditional style block. You’ll get lots of practice with your Tucker Trimmer® with this geometric block.
