Welcome to the Forest Flora blog hop!

Imagine yourself in a leafy forest on a mid-autumn morning. The ground is damp with dew from a light frost the night before, and a nearly imperceptible mist hangs in the air as the ground begins to warm under the rays of the sun. The forest floor is crunchy with freshly fallen leaves.

What colors are you imagining in your surroundings? Rich, bold oranges, yellows and reds from the turning foliage; dark earthy browns of the soil and the occasional mushroom; and fading shades of green as winter approaches.

These images were the inspiration for Forest Flora, our new collection by Island Batik for Lumin Fabrics. We chose the theme Let It Grow for the blog hop and over the course of the next week several of our Certified Instructors will be sharing projects they created that reflect this theme.

We have several quilts that we designed just for this collection, along with some old favorites reimagined in these stunning colors. Some of our Certified Instructors who are also designers have come up with their own original patterns for this collection.

With a name like Signs of Autumn, this pattern was the first one we chose for a new look in Forest Flora. This project goes together quickly as either a small wall hanging or table runner and would be beautiful for your fall décor.

Rangeley Stars is a longtime favorite here at Studio 180 Design, and it looks stunning with its new colors in Forest Flora. This pattern looks complex but is easily made with the Tucker Trimmer®.

Our good friends at Tucker University have come up with another stand out block of the month pattern for this collection. Cornucopia was inspired by the bold colors of Forest Flora. Five tools and several different technique sheets were used in this quilt, making it a perfect skill builder.

The Let It Grow blog hop starts on Monday March 31st. Here are the CIs who are participating.
