Hey Fans! Have you been enjoying our #TwilightChicWeek blog hop so far? I know I was blown away by Jackie and Gail's posts yesterday. Their projects were just phenomenal!
Today I'm going to be showing off all the different projects I've made using the Twilight Chic fabric line. While I've worked with Island Batik for several years now, this is the first time I've had a line of my own. Designed by Kathy Engle, it has been a pleasure to work with a collection that is closely tailored to my tastes. So, without further ado, let's get down to the quilts!
So since I made the Just In Time project for Marie Bostwick, I've had Delectable Mountain blocks on the brain. I knew I wanted to use them on a larger project, and this is the end result of my brainstorming session. The combination of the Delectable Mountains and Blazing Lemoyne Stars makes for a lovely combination, but putting the layout on point really made the design sing! The Mountain Blaze pattern includes two size options, and while construction is indeed a bit of a challenge, it's worth a little extra effort!
While Mountain Blaze is a more challenging design, my next project, Twilight Paths, offers a more accessible project option. I never want to exclude any skill level of quilter, so I always try to hit numerous difficulties with my pattern offerings. This project is actually a re-release of the layout download I've offered as a companion to my Shaded Four Patch Technique Sheet since it was released. However, with the new pattern download, I've gone above and beyond what I offered before. Now you get the specific yardage and instructions to make your very own version of this lovely pattern, all for free!
The next two patterns we have here were actually designed by other members of my business. The above pattern, Ripples, was designed by my daughter, Haley. According to her, the design was inspired by leaves falling on reflecting pools. All I know is she's lucky I love her or I would have needed far more convincing to do the fancy extra drafting work to figure out the best way to piece this quilt project! So the toughest work is already done before you even begin this beauty!
And here we have the design that Sarah submitted for this collection. I'm so thankful to have these two gals on my team - both of them add such unique voices and designs to our line of patterns. Now, while most of my quilt designs skew distinctly traditional, Sarah is a modern quilt designing powerhouse. She's the brains behind many of our modern designs, having designed the Fiesta, Paper Lanterns, Filigree, Crossfire, and Flight Path patterns. In a design reminiscent of plaid, she combined the Flying Geese and V Blocks in two different sizes each, to make for a fun and fast modern quilt project. Oh, and did I mention that it comes in both a table runner layout too?
Our Evening Elegance project is a bit different from the patterns we've listed above. To commemorate the announcement of Twilight Chic at Quilt Market this past fall, I hosted my Evening Elegance blog hop. With the help of several of my Certified Instructors, we combined my BlockBuster line of free downloadable blocks, all made with Twilight Chic Fabric, into a brand new project with two different setting options! It was a spectacular collaboration, and I absolutely recommend checking out the posts here if you missed the hop when it was first released
For Quilt Market this past fall, we also used the collection to make some fun samples of our newest technique sheets. The two pillows were made using the Geese on the Edge and Triangle Pizazz Technique Sheets, and the table runner was made with the Cyclone Technique Sheet.
Now these final three quilt projects don't technically exist. They're just digital fabric mockups that we've made using the Twilight Chic line, but honestly, they're just too pretty to leave out!
Phew, you know, I don't think that I even realized just how many projects I had made in this line until I listed them all here. And when you take into account the quilts that my Certified Instructors have made (either as part of the #TwilightChicWeek blog hop, the #EveningElegance blog hop, or on their own as part of the Island Batik ambassador program), that's a whole lot of projects!
