Our latest BlockBuster #99 Quicksilver uses the Geese on the Edge technique to make the corner squares of the block. It's one of our favorite techniques here at Studio 180. When Deb designed our new First Choice rulers this type of unit was what she had in mind. So let's see how you can use your new First Choice rulers to make Geese on the Edge.

Using the charts on the technique sheet, follow the process through Step 4. Normally when you reach Step 5 you use your Wing Clipper® tool to trim the corner of your squares. Instead, use your First Choice ruler. Working with the solid cutting lines on the ruler, line up the 45° lines on the seams of the logs. The edge of the ruler should be 1/4" away from the point of your square. Cut along the edge of the ruler. At this point you can continue on to Step 6, adding your replacement triangle.

Repeat the process of adding logs and triangles, trimming where needed, until you have the size block that you want to make. The trimming of the unit is the same each time you come to Step 5.

What do you think of using a First Choice ruler to make Geese on the Edge units? Give this a try with the new BlockBuster. We hope this helps you discover even more uses for First Choice!
